About Me

Hi, I’m Micheal Ohse, the founder of Barrier Island Strength and a Certified Personal Trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), with a background in powerlifting and endurance events like Spartan and Hyrox Races. I specialize in helping people transform their bodies, gain strength, and build sustainable, healthy habits that last a lifetime.

My fitness journey didn’t start with motivation—it started with a wake-up call.

In 2017, I fell asleep behind the wheel. I was lucky to walk away, and even more grateful that no one else was involved. That moment forced me to face the truth about where I was in life.

I was at a low point—mentally, emotionally, and physically. I felt alone, unfulfilled, and without direction. Like I was just going through the motions with no real purpose.

Something had to change.

I had been in the gym before through sports, but this time it was different. Fitness became more than just working out—it became my way out. My structure. My discipline. The foundation I used to rebuild myself from the ground up.

I’ve always been smaller in stature, and for most of my life, I was underestimated because of it. That’s what drew me to powerlifting. I didn’t just want to look strong—I wanted to become an undeniable force to be reckon with.

And through that process, I did.

I built real strength. Real confidence. Real discipline. Most importantly, I developed a mindset that changed every area of my life. I learned what the human body is capable of—and what happens when you stop making excuses and start taking control.

Now, that’s what I give to my clients.

This isn’t just about workouts or a temporary transformation. This is about building a stronger version of yourself—physically and mentally—so you can show up better in every part of your life.

Believe it or not at the end of the day, this goes beyond fitness.

It’s about taking care of yourself so you can live longer, feel better, and be present for the people and things that matter most—your family, your future, and the life you’re meant to live.

If you’re ready to stop starting over and finally commit to real change—

Let’s get to work.

Let’s Start Today.
